ALL PROCEEDS BENEFIT CHILDREN’S HOSPITAL FOUNDATION OF RICHMOND, VA.

Children’s Hospital serves thousands of children annually. Services include specialized long-term care for children who are medically fragile; comprehensive care for the many needs of children with complex medical conditions; and therapy programs to help children develop important skills. Proceeds from this year’s event will be divided equally between our Community Therapy Centers and general operating expenses for the Hospital. During the last several years and as a major initiative, Children’s Hospital has been focused on the development and expansion of its Community Therapy Centers.  Our primary goal has been to serve more children in settings that are located close to the communities in which they live and are easily accessible, comfortable and family friendly.  Currently our Community Therapy Centers are located in Glen Allen, Bon Air, Fredericksburg and Petersburg.  The concept of the Community Therapy Center has been a very successful undertaking having achieved excellent results.  During the 2009 fiscal year, we provided 33,687 patient visits in speech, occupational therapy and physical therapy in our Glen Allen, Midlothian, Fredericksburg and Petersburg Centers. The remaining portion of the proceeds will go towards general operating expenses of the hospital.
